A world where a free, spiritual and cultural life, a just and democratic polity and a vibrant, associative economy nurture full human development and the integrity of divine creation.

Mission

To advance sustainable development through threefolding and to participate in the creation and emergence of an active and engaged spiritual culture in the Philippines and the world.

Goals

To support the proper implementation of sustainable development and poverty eradication through threefolding as embodied in Philippine Agenda 21 (PA21);

To develop creative responses to the challenges of globalization in cooperation with relevant institutions of society;

To institutionalize and strengthen threefolding partnerships where civil society, business and government, together, plan and implement sustainable development initiatives;

To advance cultural renewal through alternative education approaches and awareness-raising on the role of culture in achieving sustainable development;

To strengthen civil society as a key institution of culture;

To promote sustainable integrated area development (SIAD) as the framework for achieving sustainable development and poverty eradication in local areas through threefolding approaches;

To advance strategic solidarity in economic life through associative economic systems;

To mainstream sustainable agricultural systems as an alternative to conventional, chemical-based agriculture;  

To encourage good governance for sustainable development and threefolding through the appropriate involvement of strategic allies in government;

To harness the results of the second scientific revolution for sustainable development, SIAD and the development of full human potential.

Activities


1. Installing SIAD in various provinces of the Philippines;

At right, former Gov. Relampagos of Bohol Province addresses a meeting of the tri-sectoral Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) Council of Bohol. CADI provided technical assistance to the province for the installation of SIAD.


2. SIAD and PA21 education in various parts of the world;

At right, Mr. Perlas was an invited speaker in Forum 2000 in New York and here appears with former Philippine Senator Leticia Shahani and former Cabinet Secretary for Poverty Eradication Donna Gasgonia in announcing a new Asia-Pacific initiative on sustainable development. 


3. Research, analysis and advocacy on globalization, technology, sustainable development, sustainable agriculture and related topics

At right, CADI President, Nicanor Perlas giving expert testimony on pesticide use in Philippine agriculture, which eventually led to the banning of 32 pesticide formulations worth over P1 billion in yearly sales


4. Publishing of monographs, books and articles on globalization, sustainable development and related topics  

At right, Mr. Perlas at the formal Philippine book launching of "Shaping Globalization," his latest book published by CADI and sold nationally through the largest booksellers.


5. Strategic networking with civil society, government and business institutions that have similar aims both locally and globally

6. Sustainable agriculture systems through demonstration farms, training, education, consultancy and outreach

At right, participants in a CADI-sponsored training of sustainable agriculture (SA) technicians display their artwork. Art activities are an integral part of the SA curriculum.   


7. Awareness raising, capacity building, education, joint advocacy and the development of principles of unity among civil society organizations

8. Extending scientific and technical support in various areas of sustainable development
